Dedicated to the memory of Marion Hill

Marion Hill
Marion was a carer to her husband Bernard for nearly 10 years. Bernard had a simple fall while walking the dogs which damaged his spine. Marion did everything for Bernard including hoisting him in and out of bed and attending to all of his needs.  Early this year Bernard had to stay in a nursing home for a few months as he had an infection that needed extra care. During this time Marion managed to get a well earned rest. Just when Bernard was starting to heal and was looking forward to coming home Marion had a tragic accident. She somehow managed to fall while going down stairs and broke the second vertebra in her neck. This left her paralysed and in a critical condition. Sadly she passed away 3 days later. Marion (aged 85) was never ill and just always got on with what she needed to do. She did not deserve to end her life like this. Bernard now has to face reality that he will have to spend his final years in a nursing home. It just goes to show that a simple fall doing every day things can have life changing consequences for all involved carers, family, friends and the patient themselves.
